Barclays CEO bans HQ staff from wearing flip-flops and jeans

Flip-flops, t-shirts, and jeans will no longer be seen at Barclays Canary Wharf head office.

Amer Sajed, Interim CEO at Barclaycard, sent an internal note seen by The Telegraph, to staff informing them of the rules changes.

Barclaycard views itself as more ‘tech startup’ than traditional bank, which allows for a looser dress code. Most of the affected staff work in Northampton, but there are also a number of floors at head office that will also be affected.

John McFarlane, Executive Chairman at the bank, is believed to be behind the changes. He wants the right image projected onto major clients.
