GSK rehire former whistle-blower who cost company £297m

GlaxoSmithKline has rehired the former employee who was suspected of being the main whistle-blower behind the infamous “Project Scorpion” case.

The case dealt with accusations of bribery between GSK and doctors, and cost the company £297million in legal fines.

Vivian Shi was the UK drug-making company’s Group Head of Government Affairs in China when she was embroiled in the internal investigations. She was accused of leaking a series of emails detailing illegal conduct as well as conspiring to film the Head of Chinese Operations in bed with his girlfriend.

Though Shi was never found guilty of the accusations, she was identified in the media as being the “orchestrator of a smear campaign against GSK”.
