Bus drivers fired via text while boss holidays

Drivers at a bus firm were fired via text whilst their boss was on holiday in Spain.

Anne Marie McKay, Director of Skyline Coaches, got her Depot Manager, Craig Walker, to inform staff of the news that her company was closing. McKay was believed to have been on holiday in Spain at the time.

Walker notified around 16 members of staff via text message. The message read: “Guys, I got a phone call from Ann Marie this evening to say that she is closing the business down tonight. She says that everyone will be paid what they are due.

“I would not bother coming in tomorrow. I’m not. When I get more information I will let you all know.”
