Government pushes to get more autistic candidates into employment

The government aims to boost the number of autistic employees by creating a Hidden Impairments Specialist Team.

The team will be a part of the pre-existing scheme Access to Work that aims to boost the number of employed people with disabilities.

Jolanta Lasota is the CEO of Ambitious about Autism. Speaking exclusively to Recruitment Grapevine, she applauds the government’s new move.

She says: “It is great that the Government is targeting support at people with ‘less visible’ disabilities including dyslexia and autism. One in 100 people in the UK have autism, meaning there is a lot of potential talent out there. It is crucial that they have the support the need to get into work.”
