Recruitment must prepare for increase in freelancers

The freelance sector is growing faster than any other sector, according to new research.

Recruitment risks losing out on this emerging market if it does not adapt and prepare itself for the huge growth that is expected.

Recent figures published by People Per Hour found that freelance work has been growing at 3.5% a year – the fastest growth out of any sector in recruitment. Financial services company Evergreen stresses the point that, if that rate continues, we could see 50% of the total UK workforce working independently as contractors.

Jovan Pavlicevic, Director at Evergreen, implores recruiters not to be complacent: “[They] cannot rest on their laurels, as the growing amount of freelancers will mean an increase in workload, and those that prepare for this expansion will end up being the biggest winners in the market.”
