A former Google engineer has spoken out against what she believes are discriminatory practices in a series of Twitter posts.
When at the company Erica Baker created a spreadsheet to allow her and her co-workers to compare wages in an attempt to promote transparency within the company, before sharing the data on Google’s internal social network system.
“It took off like wildfire,” claimed Baker. “It got re-shared all over the place.”
As more and more employees began adding their personal information to the spreadsheet, Baker noticed that there were some questionable trends. She implied that these correlations were based on gender and ethnicity, however Baker did not definitively state this claim.
