Airlines must hire 500,000 new pilots in next 20 years

Public airlines will have to recruit at least 558,000 new pilots in the next 20 years to meet with rising travel demands, according to a new report released by Boeing.  

The Boeing Company has announced that in order to cater to growing travel needs, a major recruitment drive will have to take place in the coming years.

However, the demand is not limited to pilots, with an estimated 609,000 new hires needed in the maintenance and engineer sectors.

According to the report, the Asia Pacific region has the highest need for candidates, at 39%, equating to 238,000 new positions. The move is all part of Boeings master plan to create a global transportation fleet, for which the company will found 17 training campuses worldwide.
