Low morale and an impact on health are damaging retention within the police force, new research has found.
The Police Federation’s pay and morale survey found that one in six were looking for other jobs or were planning to leave.
When asked what would have a major effect on their intention to leave; 82.9% cited their morale, and 69.8% said the impact of their job on their health and wellbeing.
74.7% disagreed with the statement ‘I feel valued in the Police’, while 76.3% would not recommend their profession to others. 70.5% did not feel respected by society at large.
