American companies are resorting to quirky benefits to attract and retain employees.
A survey by the Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM) has found an increase in the amount of bizarre staff perks now being offered in some US firms. The benefits range from fitness trackers to eradicating student debt to company hair stylists.
As well as monitoring the unusual benefits now on the market, SHRM also looked at the rise in established employee perks. Contraceptive coverage has grown since 2011, as has the use of standing desks and telecommuting.
However, with increasingly expensive perks becoming seemingly crucial for talent attraction, some benefits have taken a hit, with subsidized cafeterias on the decline.
