Heat wave workers offer laughable 'sickie' excuses

With temperatures soaring to a sweltering 35 degrees this week, absences from work are up 25%.

ELAS, the employment law expert, is warning management to remain vigilant or risk losing valuable man power.

 “We all know it’s hard to keep motivated when the weather outside is so lovely, but absent and distracted workers are the last thing an office needs,” claims ELAS consultant Enrique Garcia.

“The most important thing employers can do is make the workplace as comfortable and pleasant as possible for staff members. Ways in which to do this include relaxing strict dress codes, installing air conditioning, if you don’t already have it, allowing for regular drinks breaks and offering flexible working hours.”
