'Death of the tea break': workers too busy for tea

Employees are potentially harming their productivity and well-being by missing out on the ‘tea break’.

44% of workers said they feel re-energised after a cuppa, and 33% feel more productive. The average office worker will have four cups of tea a day, with workers in HR taking the most tea breaks a day – at least two.

But nearly half of those asked said they were too busy to stop for a cup of tea, while one in four thought they were not allowed a break. One in five said they take fewer tea breaks than five years ago.

Psychologist Honey Langcaster-James warned that this 'presenteaism' could potentially do more harm than good.
