Uber mini-cab drivers are being blamed for the increase in bottles of urine being found littering London’s busy streets.
The company is well known for its intense market pressure, with employees having to work 50 out of every 60 minutes in order to qualify for a guaranteed hourly wage and an expectation that all drivers accept 90% of ride requests.
Apparently the workload and unsecure salary has led some Uber drivers to urinate into plastic bottles, rather than stopping to use a lavatory, in order to save time and avoid a parking ticket.
The news came to light after several customers posted about their experiences on social media sites, with one Stephen Hough tweeting: “‘I really want to pee’, says my taxi driver. ‘Oh dear. There’s a Starbucks there.’ ‘It’s Ok. I have a bottle’, he says pointing to the floor.’”
