Tree office unveiled in Hoxton Square

With a growing trend in redesigning office spaces and challenging the way employees look at the traditional workplace environment, a new outdoor design could potentially signal the future of remote working.

Hoxton Square is now home to Britain’s first TREExOFFICE, an outdoor office-space, nestled in the foliage of a London park.

The installation is part of environmental charity Groundwork London, which aims to reinvigorate the green spaces of the city and transform them into viable work areas. The pop-up office stands on stilts surrounding a large tree, covered by slotted plastic, which allows for the light and warmth to stream through.

The office, designed by Australian Architect Natalie Jeremijenko, is complete with Wi-Fi and a power supply and available for free group bookings at the weekends. The project was conceived in collaboration with architects Tate Harmer, of which Rory Harmer explained the aim of the design was to “create a new office concept, changing the way we work in the city.”
