Girls need to misbehave in schools to get ahead in business

Girls need to misbehave more in schools in order to help them excel in the workplace, according to Helen Fraser, Head of the Girls' Day School Trust (GDST).

Fraser, former Managing Director of Penguin Books, has suggested that girls are “too compliant” and therefore at risk of being held back from taking entrepreneurial risks and advancing in their careers.

Attacking the gender bias present in the current school system, Fraser claimed: “Girls shouldn’t hold back, they should speak up, should not be afraid of outrageous ideas, of being disruptive. Girls are encouraged to be good and not to be disruptive, but the people prepared to be a little disruptive are the ones that make it to the top.”
