Blackberry faces up to pay cuts and job losses after profits slide again

Employees will soon be picked away from Blackberry as the technology company announces plans to lay off an unspecified amount of staff.

The news will come as a surprise to employees. CEO John Chen had previously cut jobs in 2013 and returned the company to profit, and even went on record last year and said “the workforce reduction … is now behind us.”

The firm is also attempting to expand into new businesses beyond smartphone devices, such as enterprise markets and security. The announcement comes after results for the previous quarter showed a 16.8% fall in revenue.
