Nut-rage Korean Air executive freed from jail

A former executive at a Korean Air firm, who was jailed for an outburst involving macadamia nuts, has been freed from jail after winning an appeal. 

Heather Cho was found guilty of breaking aviation law earlier this year after making an unauthorised demand on a Korean Air flight from New York to Seoul for the plane to return to the gate in February this year.

The 40-year-old daughter of Korean Air’s chairman was convicted of obstructing aviation safety, preventing the flight’s captain from performing his duties, and forcing a crew member off a plane. She was sentenced to one year in jail. Prior to sentencing she had resigned as vice-president of Korean Air.
