Amazon CEO appoints first woman for 'shadow' position

Amazon CEO has appointed a woman to be his 'shadow' for the first time.

Jeff Bezos has appointed Maria Renz to the role of Technical Adviser to the CEO, a position that has previously only been held by men.  

In her new role, Renz will be by Bezos’ side in daily meetings and advise on big company decisions.

Renz is a 15 year veteran at the company and recently served as the CEO of Quidsi, which owns retail sites like Diapers.com and Soaps.com.
