Employers will benefit from Conservative stance on employment tribunal fees

 

With a Conservative government confirmed, the future of tribunal fees looks set to favour employers. 

The issue is one that separated the parties. The Conservatives are in favour of retaining employment tribunal fees, whilst Labour directly opposed them and want to scrap these fees altogether.

Darren Maw, Managing Director of employment law and HR services firm Vista, said the outcome of the election will effect employees and employers differently. A Labour parliament would have benefited employees, but a Conservative government will bolster employers: “Labour would have seen the furthering of employee rights such as enhanced protection for workers on zero contracts, increases in paternity leave and pay, childcare and wraparound care and changes to tribunal fees, adjustment leave, repeal of pay between assignment contracts, an increase in minimum wage and the reinstatement of protection against third party harassment.
