Apple's Angela Ahrendts becomes America's highest paid woman with $83m earnings, nine times more than CEO Tim Cook

Apple’s Head of Retail and Online, Angela Ahrendts, was paid nine times more than the tech giant’s CEO, Tim Cook.

The former Burberry CEO was paid $82.6million, $10million more than previously thought, with her package including a signing-on bonus as well as a ‘make-whole’ grant to compensate for awards she would have received at the UK fashion label. Comparatively, Cook was awarded $9.2million last year.

A January filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission said that she was handed $73.3million, with Apple saying her appointment was an “extraordinary additions to the company’s executive team with the experience and ability to lead both the retail and online businesses.”
