
A New York City doorman who worked at the luxury ‘27 on 27th‘ in Long Island, Queens, has been fired for being ‘too nice’ to tenants.
Ralph Body performed any task that was required of him - checking on pets, cleaning litter trays, watering plants, and even playing estate agent by showing prospective tenants around the apartments – but this did not sit well with upper management, and he was informed of such by staffing company PBS last Sunday.
Speaking to The New York Post he said: “Everything I did, somebody asked me to do, or there was a need for it. They said, ‘We know you did it for the right reasons, but unfortunately … you’re too nice to the tenants.’ I told them, ‘When the tenants ask me to do something, I’m going to say yes.’ But they said, ‘You do things for them which you shouldn’t be doing. And unfortunately, in this case, nice guys finish last.’”
