NYPD detective demoted after Uber driver rant

An NYPD detective has been demoted after an abusive outburst towards an Uber driver was captured on camera and uploaded to YouTube.

Detective Patrick Cherry who was trying to park an unmarked patrol car at the time, told NBC 4 New York that the fracas began when the Uber driver pulled up fast behind him and gestured wildly in his direction.

Cherry said he then pulled him over to “clarify the situation”, but the driver refused to hand over his license and registration.
