
The number of women in UK boardrooms has nearly doubled in four years, according to the latest update to the Davies Report.
Lord Davies was commissioned by Business Secretary Vince Cable in 2011 when it was found that women accounted for only 12.5% of FTSE100 Board members. Today the figure stands at 23.5% - on course for the voluntary target of 25% by the end of 2015.
The figures mean that another 17 women need to be appointed to FTSE100 boards before the end of the year for the target to be met. Lord Davies said the rate of change since his report had been “remarkable” and proved that the voluntary approach was working.
