Morrisons ditch robots for human touch

Morrisons has abandoned its high-tech infrared queue management system (IQM) that decides how many checkouts it should keep open, opting to return its trust to the judgement of staff.

In a world of Big Data and robots, new CEO, David Potts has returned to basics and announced that the system will cease to be in use in any of the stores from today.

The IQM uses infrared sensors to calculate how many customers are in the store and making their way through the checkouts.
