How to manage an older workforce

Older workers should be seen as an opportunity, not a challenge, suggests experts.

The Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives has published a new guide regarding older employees in the workplace, entitled Managing Health Aging Workforces; a small and medium sized enterprise business Imperative. As part of the NHS Health Scotland, the guide offers advice on hiring and managing an older working team, and is the first of its kind to focus on SME employers.

With the UK population consisting of eight million workers aged 50 and over, and 5.2 million of these working for SME businesses, the guide offers support regarding recruitment, management and development.
