
Bosses need to do more to tackle the obesity crisis before it cripples the NHS, experts warn.
With obesity related diabetes accounting for ten per cent of NHS annual spending and the obesity crisis costing England £10billion a year, employers are being called upon to promote healthy lifestyles among their staff, following warnings from experts that obesity could cripple the NHS.
Professor Jonathan Valabhji, National Clinical Director for Obesity and Diabetes for NHS England warns that employers should actively work towards controlling the problem of obesity, advising companies to offer employees free gym memberships, and to eliminate unhealthy, sugary treats from vending machines.
