Candidate told to change her hair or lose job chance

A candidate said she was "shocked and embarrassed" after being asked to change her hairstyle to secure a job.

Simone Powderly, blogger and model, was told to lose the braids or potentially lose the job after a luxury recruitment agency told her ‘brands prefer a more natural look.’

The occurrence took place when Powderly applied at Elite Associates, whose website describes it as ‘a respected leader in the luxury recruitment industry, providing the highest calibre of candidates to the most selective and prestigious retailers and brands in the world’.
