RBS CFO £3m pay tops McEwan's

The CEO of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Ewen Stevenson, was paid over £1m more last year than the firms CEO, Ross McEwan, the bank’s remuneration report has revealed.

Stevenson received over £3m including a £1.9m “golden hello” to replace awards he forfeited on leaving Credit Suisse, the Swiss bank, to join RBS last May.

During his time at Credit Suisse, Stevenson advised financial institutions on M&A deals for two decades and most recently headed up investment banking in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
