Older workers create extra jobs for young people

Over 50s staying in the workforce creates more jobs for younger people and betters the economy, according to a report backed by government.

Older people remaining at work can also increase wages for younger employees, says Dr Ros Altmann, government-appointed campaigner for older workers.

"Academic and historical evidence shows that, far from damaging job prospects, keeping more older people in work is associated with rising employment and wages for younger people," said Altmann.
