London Bridge staff spat at and 'assaulted with hot coffee' by angry commuters

Rail staff at London Bridge station are suffering the wrath of angry commuters including being threatened, having hot coffee thrown at them and being spat at, union bosses at RMT claim.  

An open letter from the union to Southeastern and Thameslink train operators says that staff are being abused because passengers are angry about ongoing travel issues and “take out their anger on the station workforce”.

The major engineering works began towards the end of 2014 and have caused huge commuting problems with regularly delayed and cancelled trains.
