Madrid metro warns staff to keep an eye on gay people

Madrid metro bosses have warned staff to be extra vigilant around gay people, highlighting them as a problem group for fare dodging.

The leaked internal memo noted several stops where staff should check travellers hold valid tickets warning that staff should keep an eye on ‘musicians, beggars and gay people’ on Line 2.

Teodoro Piñuelas, a member of UGT trade union which represents metro employees, said he had viewed it as discrimination.
