Google scrap London HQ plans for being 'too boring'

Plans for the new Google HQ in London, which included a rooftop pool, an indoor football pitch and a private climbing wall, have been scrapped by boss Larry Page for being ‘too boring.’

The Google cofounder ordered the UK team to come up with a building worthy of existing for 100 years, as original plans were not ‘Googly’ enough, a key part of the tech giant's employer brand.
Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, the architecture firm primarily responsible, had plans which detailed images of staff lounging on a large roof garden and cycling between meetings.

The cycle paths were supposed to create an ‘easy and enjoyable journey that encourages encounter,’ with Google campuses designed to retain employees, and create a more productive workforce.
