James McAvoy concerned by lack of opportunity for less privileged actors

 

James McAvoy has warned that Britain’s wave of posh film stars will eventually become ‘damaging for society’ as less privileged individuals are not given a chance.

McAvoy stated that talented young people from poorer backgrounds were being excluded.

“It’s a frightening world when you have one tiny pocket of society creating all the arts. Culture starts to become representative not of everybody, but of one tiny part. That’s not fair to begin with, but it’s also damaging for society,” he said.
