
A Coronation Street actress has reignited the debate surrounding employment issues faced by older women on TV by saying a facelift boosted her dying career.
Claire King, who was also in Emmerdale for ten years, was a permanent fixture on television throughout the 1990s and beyond. However, the now 52 year old says that once she entered her 40s, the work began to dry up.
King told Closer magazine: “Things slowed down for me. I'd always played quite sexy characters, but TV bosses generally don't find women of a certain age sexy, so the jobs weren't there.”
