Coronation Street drop actress for lying about age on CV

Coronation Street has dropped an actress from the show for lying about her age.

The popular soap opera announced that Katie Redford had been cast for the role of 14 year old Bethany Platt last week. But suspicious fans on Digital Spy were unconvinced of Redford’s alleged age of 19 and found evidence - including an online CV – suggesting the actress was in fact 25 years old.

After online attention over the course of the weekend producers of the show made the following announcement: "Coronation Street have taken the decision to recast the part of Bethany Platt".
