
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has appointed a new president, taking over from Peter Ayliffe.
Mike Clasper CBE, whose previous senior positions have been with Which?, ITV, HM Revenue and Customs and Procter and Gamble will hold the position for two years like his predecessor. Since September 2013 he has been the Non-Executive Chairman of Coats PLC. There are hopes that Clasper’s new role will inspire a new wave of effective training for managers.
Clasper said of his new role: “There’s so much to do to improve the leadership of British businesses, at every level of seniority. There’s an old saying that the fish rots from the head, which is why management is often focussed on the leadership at the very top of organisations.”
