
Four out of five Rome police called in sick on New Year’s Eve, according to reports.
Out of the 1,000 available to work over 800 were absent as 600,000 people took to streets to ring in the New Year, according to La Repubblica.
And despite claims that there was no increase in trouble in the capital, Italian government officials have criticised the absence figures.
