Cadbury's chief gets £4.5m pay increase

The CEO of Mondelez, the owners of Cadbury’s, has been awarded a 31% pay rise, worth £4.5m, despite a 36% fall in the company’s net income.

Irene Rosenfeld’s salary is now £18.9m and she is the second highest earning woman in America.

She caused huge controversy in 2011 during her management of Kraft’s takeover of Cadbury’s, closing the company’s Somerdale factory after pledging it would remain open until 2012.

The closure resulted in 200 job losses and she received further criticism when she refused to go before MPs of the Parliamentary Business, Innovation and Skills committee to explain the decision.
