CEOs name top challenges for 2013

Developing and engaging human capital, achieving operational excellence, and increasing innovation are the top three challenges facing businesses in the coming year.

This is according to the CEO Challenge 2013 Report, released by the Conference Board in partnership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in the UK. 700 CEOs, presidents and chairmen from leading companies across the world were surveyed for the annual report.

Human capital was listed as the number one challenge in both Europe and Asia. Europe jumped from seventh position in 2012.

Business leaders identified growing talent internally, providing employee training and improving employee engagement as strategies of enhancing human capital.
