Thomas Cook appoints female chief executive

thomascookThomas Cook has appointed a female Chief Executive.

The tour operated has recruited Harriet Green to take up the role in July, succeeding Manny Fontenla-Novoa, who resigned in August last year. He was replaced on a temporary basis by his deputy, Sam Weihagen.

Green is currently CEO of Premier Farnell plc and a non-executive director of BAE Systems plc and the Fortune 200 company, Emerson Electric Co. Green has extensive experience of driving business transformation and change programmes globally.

Recent research from Deloitte suggests that women only accounted for one in ten executive board appointments over the last year.
