A bakery has wrongly dismissed an employee after he showed his payslip to co-worker, a tribunal has ruled.
Bakers Harvest, a New Zealand (NZ) bakery, said employee Keith Kar created problems for the business by showing his payslip to an employee. Rachel Larmer, a member of NZ’s Employment Relations Authority, said this left the employee “very upset and agitated.”
The employee in question was covering for Kar and another employee, who were both on sick leave.
The findings said: “(He) was therefore essential to the operation of the business. Bakers Harvest believes Mr Kar was trying to cause dissension and disharmony in the workplace.”
