Alton Towers recruiting for rollercoaster tester role

 

Alton Towers has launched a search for an official rollercoaster tester to ride the park’s largest attractions before the gates open.

The successful applicant will have to test out Alton Towers’ most daunting rides, the most famous of which, The Smiler, is the world’s first 14 loop rollercoaster. With speeds of 0-60 in just two seconds, a 60 metre drop and G Force winds, prospective candidates are expected to have a “head for heights" and a "strong stomach".

Katherine Duckworth, a spokesperson for Alton Towers Resort, explains: “We are renowned for our world-beating rollercoasters and have rides here that you can’t experience anywhere else in the world. Every morning before the park opens to the public, each ride goes through serious testing so we’re looking for someone that can take this on.”
