Romanian diplomat fired after calling guests 'ghastly' and 'undesirable' in invitation email

A Romanian diplomat has been sacked after invitations to a reception were sent out from its Paris-based embassy containing offensive comments about the guests.

The Romanian Foreign Ministry say the diplomat was fired because a spreadsheet was accidentally attached to the invitations describing some of the guests as “ghastly” and “undesirable”.

The invitations, sent last week were to an event with President Klaus Iohannis in Paris.
