Sony Music Entertainment launched a new careers hub last week to improve its access to candidates across the globe, its HR chief has said.
In a post on LinkedIn, EVP and Global Chief People Officer Andrew R. Davis said the new platform would help Sony “tap into a global network of talent like we haven’t before.”
The new hub gives prospective applicants a deeper look into Sony’s culture and the hiring process itself, amid wider job market frustrations with the candidate experience.
Why Sony relaunched careers site
In his post, Davis said the new hub has been launched as Sony continues a “focus on putting our people and their experiences first.”
Sony Music Careers, he remarked, is a “space that truly reflects who we are while promoting opportunities across our dynamic and global organization.”
The Chief People Officer suggested that the revamped hub would help job seekers get up to speed with Sony’s culture and values and screen for a possible fit, and make clear important details on the hiring process.
Nearly two-thirds of US job seekers report that employers are not transparent about what to expect from the interview process, including details on the number of stages, any required projects, and evaluation criteria.
“We’ve outlined what the hiring process looks like, to ensure candidates are clear on what they can expect after they’ve applied,” Davis wrote.
The people exec also indicated that the relaunched hub will ensure its hiring processes are inclusive, helping Sony to “welcome diverse perspectives and skillsets that elevate our collective excellence.”
While many US-based employers have reneged on prior DE&I commitments to align with the Trump administration, Sony Music Group’s website maintains its “responsibility to move music forward in creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization, industry and society.”
Career hub relaunch follows HR overhaul
The new careers hub comes as Sony continues to overhaul its people strategy and infrastructure.
In 2022, the entertainment company rebranded its HR efforts to 'People Experience' – or PX.
“People want to be part of a purpose-driven, progressive, high-performing company that prioritizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and overall wellbeing for its employees,” Davis wrote at the time.
“In other words, they want to work somewhere that puts people first. And at Sony Music Entertainment, that’s exactly what we do. So, in an effort to keep fulfilling that mission, we are reimagining the role Human Resources has served and will play in our business.”
In 2024, Sony then introduced a ‘Global People Promise (GPP),’ titled “Shape Next, Create Impact.”
Davis’ most recent post said the GPP helped Sony to define the behaviors that improve the cultural experience for staff, thereby supporting efforts to “attract and retain top talent.”
