PwC has canceled a multi-day trip to Walt Disney World that traditionally marked the end of its summer internship program for those who received full-time job offers.
Managers informed members of the firm’s 2026 summer intern class that the Orlando celebration would not take place, according to interns who spoke to Business Insider. PwC subsequently confirmed that the event, known as Impact, had been discontinued.
The trip had taken place in all but five of the past 20 years and was typically held in mid-August. Interns attending the celebration received free food and accommodation, access to Walt Disney World Resort, and opportunities to participate in entertainment, keynote speeches, and career-development panels.
A PwC spokesperson said that despite the cancellation, the professional services firm continued to make “significant investments” in its early-talent programs.

PwC shifts focus toward teams and client exposure
PwC said it was directing more resources toward learning opportunities and connections within the individual teams where interns are likely to begin their careers.
“As part of that approach, we're intentionally focusing our programs on experiences that provide more time with colleagues, greater exposure to clients, and stronger opportunities to build relationships within the offices and teams where interns begin their careers,” a spokesperson said.
The firm continues to operate other early-career initiatives, including some held in Orlando that provide access to Disney World.
Turning workforce data into early warnings for high-cost employees
Destination CPA, for example, is a three-day networking event that introduces incoming accounting interns to PwC. One of the interns interviewed by Business Insider noted that many members of the current cohort had already visited the resort through that program around 18 months ago.
Reactions among interns to the loss of the Impact trip were mixed.
One expressed disappointment, saying that although PwC had arranged happy hours and office-based activities, they were “nothing compared to what Impact would have been.”
Another was less concerned about the decision. “Honestly, I don't mind!” the intern said. “Many current interns went a year and a half ago during Destination CPA.”
The move follows other changes to how PwC approaches employee development and workplace learning.
In February, the company introduced its Learning Collective, an initiative designed to encourage development beyond conventional training courses. It includes approaches such as inviting colleagues to attend meetings and asking teams to discuss what they have learned during the week.
