'New era' | Kim Kardashian's Skims fashion brand hires first ever CPO

Kim Kardashian’s fast-growing shapewear-turned-lifestyle brand Skims has appointed Kim Seymour as its first chief people officer.

An HR veteran, Seymour most recently ran her own HR advisory, Leadership Amplified. Before that, she served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Etsy and held senior HR roles at American Express and Home Depot Supply.

In her new role, Seymour will report to - and work “side by side” with -  Skims Chief Executive and Co-Founder Jens Grede, the company said in a statement, and will help align “talent operations to business strategies.”

She said: “This new era that SKIMS is about to enter, with more reach, more product innovation, more partnerships and collaborations, requires more focus on the people who are delivering.”

The hire comes amid a string of senior leadership appointments as Skims continues to scale. In November, the company named Ami Colé founder Diarrha N’Diaye as executive vice president of beauty and fragrance to lead its beauty relaunch, expected to take shape this year. In August, it appointed Michael Kors alum Robin Gendron as its first president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, to lead an expansion that includes standalone stores in London and Dubai.

The brand operates 18 stores in the US and two franchise locations in Mexico, and has expanded well beyond its shapewear origins into a lifestyle brand spanning loungewear and athleisure. In November, the six-year-old company was valued at $5billion following a $225million capital raise led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, up from a $4billion valuation in 2023.

The move has been greeted with much positivity on LinkedIn, with one poster commenting: "Welcoming Kim Seymour as Chief People Officer is a strong signal of how seriously SKIMS is investing in its people as the brand enters its next phase of growth. Her perspective on scale, innovation, and culture feels perfectly aligned with what’s ahead a great move for building a truly people-led organization."

Others praised the raising of black women to executive positions. "More Black women being hired in 2026? Esp at the c-suite level. YEAH," said one, while another added: "Love all the melanin in these leadership roles. Okkurr Kim and team."
