Crisis response | New York shooting spurs HR security & remote work measures

The deadly shooting at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan this week led to increased security measures, remote work protocols, and grief counseling across affected employers including the NFL and KPMG.

“A gunman committed an unspeakable act of violence in our building at 345 Park Avenue,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote in a Tuesday morning email to employees. “The employee is in stable condition and NFL staff are at the hospital supporting his family.”

Police identified the shooter as 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura, a former surveillance employee at Horseshoe Las Vegas who drove from Nevada to New York, entered the office tower with an M4 rifle and opened fire in the lobby before continuing to the 33rd floor, where Rudin Management, the building’s owner, has offices.
