The service industry is without a doubt a challenging environment in which to manage a continuously evolving workforce. It’s a fast-paced and high-turnover sector with long hours and, on the whole, limited initial scope for long-term career development.

It comes as no surprise that many businesses rely on those looking to enter the workforce for the first time, or in the early stages of their career, to make up the majority of their personnel. Currently, that’s likely to be those within the Gen-Z demographic.

However, Gen-Z is a generation with a very clear sense of what it wants from working life. Unlike some previous generations, many within this group refuse to work for organisations that they feel aren’t offering a compelling employment package. One organisation that recently announced its plans to take on this challenge, is Chipotle.

The popular chain revealed a series of initiatives targeted at Gen-Z workers, which includes a tailored benefits package. Chipotle is offering perks such as student loan assistance, retirement savings matching and mental health support – all of which it believes are key factors in enticing younger generations.
