McDonald’s USA has appointed the experienced Pat Myers as its new Chief People Officer, who comes with a resume that includes stints at consumer brand giants Target, Mars and Kraft-Heinz.
Myers joins next month from Medtronic, with a mandate to lead an overhaul of the employee experience across its restaurants and corporate operations. His appointment follows the interim leadership of Jordann Nunn, who helped maintain continuity through a transitional phase and now moves into the role of Chief Field People Officer.
He brings with him decades of HR leadership from some of the world’s largest consumer-facing companies and a career rooted in inclusive, performance-driven culture transformation.
The appointment signals a sharpened focus on hiring, retention, development, and engagement for McDonald’s US workforce.
Myers is expected to lead the company’s long-term strategy to strengthen its position as an employer of choice, delivering consistency across restaurant and office settings while reinforcing the company’s cultural values of “care, opportunity, and belonging."
With previous leadership roles at Medtronic, Mars, Kraft Heinz, and a 13 year stint at Target, Myers has become known for connecting strategic workforce priorities with operational execution, particularly in large, decentralised environments like McDonald’s.
Prioritising culture and capability at scale
His new remit includes overseeing McDonald’s continued investment in modernised HR practices, following the recent US rollout of the company’s Global People Modernization programme. The initiative, aimed at streamlining and enhancing HR systems, was designed to deliver tangible improvements for employees and McOpCo staff alike.
Myers’s leadership will also focus on creating career pathways and nurturing talent from within. Colleagues describe his leadership style as values-driven, combining strategic vision with a hands-on approach to team engagement and innovation.
“With his track record of driving culture change, scaling innovation, and championing frontline teams, we’re confident Pat will help us make McDonald’s an even stronger employer of choice in every community we serve,” said the firm.
