Late-night Kebab shops at risk from Brexit skills shortage

The late-night takeaway industry is under threat from staff shortages, if tighter immigration rules go ahead.

Almost one in four takeaways are struggling to recruit the staff they need to maintain their businesses.

Ibrahim Dogus, Founder of the British Kebab Awards, which had its sixth annual ceremony on Tuesday, has urged ministers to “ensure the immigration system enables takeaways to recruit the staff they need from within the European Union and beyond” – The Times reports.

Dogus, who is also Chair of the British Takeaway Campaign said the problem is “particularly acute for those cuisines requiring specialist chefs in curry and kebab houses, sushi and also fish frying.”
