“Everyone needs support sometimes. The support that we may need will be different for every person, and that’s just the same for people who have Down’s syndrome.”
These words, taken from a blog post shared by the Down’s Syndrome Association ahead of Down’s Syndrome Awareness Week 2025 – running from 20 March to 23 March – are a much-needed reminder of the structured support and career opportunities that employers must provide for people with Down’s Syndrome—particularly given that just 4.8% of adults with a learning disability are employed across the UK, despite 86% wanting a job.
